Multiple Teams · Wildcats at Titan Invite

It was a very exciting day for the South Summit Cross Country team! We competed at the Titan Cross Country Meet at Lakeside Park in Orem. We had a nice, flat, grassy course to run on this meet compared to last week’s hilly, dirt trails. It was a small meet with just a few other schools. For once we actually ended up being one of the biggest schools there!

Before the race Coach Paula gave us the advice to focus on being relaxed which obviously helped as Braxton Booth led the boys team across the finish line in 4th place out of 54 boys with a time of 18:41. Jared Leary (20:36), Logan Davis (21:46), Denney Simmons (21:59), Keaton Crandall (22:22), and Parker Booth (24:22) each got their all time PR’s! The other boys on the team that weren’t too far off their PR’s were Sam Galati (18:55), Koven Card (19:11), Stuart Card (19:42), and Julio Campos (24:47). The boys team was very impressive today! The boys took 2nd place overall out of 5 teams.

We finally have a full girls team this season for the first time in years. There were 6 girls running and I think we can all agree that the boys cheering for us helped push us along throughout the race! Vicki Perona lead the girls team coming in 10th place out of 34 girls with a time of 25:44. Following close behind was Callie Woolstenhulme (25:59), Katie Lewis (28:02), Katelyn Simmons (28:21), and Jillian Tillet (30:36). After not being able to compete the previous meet we were excited to have Elizabeth Sampson back with us who finished in 34:09. The girls took 3rd place out of 4 teams.
