The Mr. Mac/ BYU Invitational was held Friday May 5th and Sat. May 6th at BYU’s Clarence F. Robison Track & Field Complex located in Provo, Utah.  125 schools from all over Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming participated in the meet; representing South Summit were 10 athletes, 9 boys and a girl.  This meet has qualifying standards each athlete has to meet in order to be eligible to participate: Logan Davis qualified in 4 events, Hagen Miles, Jared Dansie, Parker Grajek and Abby Laswell qualified in 3 events, while the other participants qualified in 1-2 events. These athletes did a marvelous job competing in the scorching sun, many of the athletes set new PR’s (personal records). Sam Galati (freshman) set 2 new PR’s in the 800m run (2:12) and in the 400m (56.02), Wes Jensen (freshman) set a new PR in the High Jump with a jump of 5’07”.  Jared Dansie ran a 24.25 in the 200m sprint, while Logan Davis set new PR’s in all 4 of his events, 400m (54.50), 200m sprint (24.9), 110 hurdles (17.78), and the 300m hurdles (43.54). DJ Sylvester also PR’d in the 300m hurdles and Cooper Loftus participated in the shot put. This was a successful weekend for the wildcat athletes, and they hope to bring their success to Region on Wednesday May 10, 2017. We hope to see everyone there!
